Peach - May 2, 1999 - August 15, 2008

peach2_150.jpgIn loving memory of our best friend, Peach, who we love so very much. She will be in our hearts forever.

Peach was such a loving friend and companion who had such a rambunctious and playful heart. Her favorite pass times include chasing our cat Freckles around the house, cuddling on the couch and going for walks at the doggy park. Everyone she met instantly fell in love with her. She will be always remembered in our hearts and dreams. We miss you so much! - Love, Bob, Olivia and Kids

FRED  - January 21, 2006 - January 3, 2019

On Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 3:30PM EST, Fred Bob Bittner, faithful, fun loving, adventurous companion passed away a couple weeks before turning 13. Fred was born on January 21, 2006 in La Pine, OR and “adopted” by Andy and Melody Bittner 8 weeks later. Andy discovered him in a box of puppies being given away in front of Thriftway by a couple teen age kids. Andy was told the puppies were half lab, quarter pit and quarter golden retriever, a mix for which he had been looking. He left and called Melody leaving a voicemail telling her she would be proud of him for not getting a dog. He then changed his mind went back and got the puppy. Next thing Melody knows is she gets a picture on her phone introducing Fred. Over the years Fred loved playing with sticks, swimming, boating, running and exploring our great country. While living in La Pine he learned all sorts of things and especially enjoyed running -a lot- including in the snow. One of his favorite games as a puppy was running the fence line with the Shelties next door or taking off and letting Andy follow him for multiple miles until Fred decided it was time to go home. After moving to Portland, Fred became a beloved Deli Dog, greeting customers at the Piedmont Deli. There he met many new friends including the owner of the bar next door. She befriended him and one morning came and asked if Fred could come over and play. He ended up spending a few hours each day helping to clean up the bar, picking up tater tots and receipts from the floor and bringing them to the bar owner. She even invited him to her birthday party! Moving to Flint, MI began his cross country adventures. Over the next couple of years Fred visited all of the lower 48 states multiple times. He loved to swim and over the years had the privilege of swimming in the Pacific, Atlantic, multiple Great Lakes, the Columbia and Mississippi Rivers, the Gulf of Mexico and many smaller bodies of water including American Lake in Washington and Johnson Creek in his back yard in Gresham, OR. Upon moving back to the Portland area he became a greeter and undercover drug sniffing dog at Mail Room Plus in both Portland and Vancouver. In 2018 he again enjoyed traveling in Oregon, Washington and California prior to his final cross country trip and retirement in North Carolina. He is survived by his “parents” Andy and Melody and his “brother” Buddy.
