  • Prevents rabies, brucellosis, and other disorders by testing animals and providing inoculations.
  • Promotes health of animals by advising animal owners about sanitation measures, feeding, and general care.
  • Documents actions by completing and updating forms, reports, and animal records and reporting diseases to public health officials.
  • Enhances clinic reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

VET TECH

  • Taking and Recording Vital Signs
  • Drawing Blood
  • Collecting Stool Samples
  • Performing Laboratory Tests
  • Taking X-rays
  • Sterilizing Equipment and Cleaning Exam Rooms
  • Preparing Animals for Surgery
  • Administering Medications, Injections, IV Fluids and Anesthesia
  • Collecting and Recording Animals’ Medical Histories
  • Restraining Animals
  • Trimming Nails
  • Feeding and Walking Animals
  • Removing Sutures
  • Cleaning Wounds and Changing Dressings
  • Cleaning kennels and cages
  • Preparing Clinic for next day of business
  • Explaining medications and directions for home care
  • Knowledge of medication
  • Recommendations of prevention medicine with treatment of certain diseases.
  • Making sure all animals are presentable and smell clean before going to their owners.
  • Working on computers using software for veterinary medicine

KENNEL ASSISTANT / KENNEL MANAGER

  • Checking in and out patients
  • Cleaning kennels and cages
  • Walking dogs out to outside kennels
  • Cleaning outside kennels
  • Making sure patients are up to date on vaccines, preventative, and any testing prior to boarding or upon arrival
  • Feeding, water, medications (if needed) on any patients
  • Working weekends and holidays
  • Preparing for next day of business
  • Vacuuming & mopping facility including the lobby/reception area
  • Operating the computer system
  • Giving baths
  • Lifting large animals
  • Making sure animals are clean and smell good before going home to owners!
  • Cleaning litter boxes
  • Cleaning food bowls and water bowls
  • Leash walking some dogs
